Sales of private label olive oil on the rise in Greece
According to resent market surveys the economic crisis in Greece affected the consumer behavior when it comes to buying olive oil. The result is obvious in the sales of Private label Olive Oil through the major Super Market chains of the country.
The sales of Private label olive oil have reached approximately 25% to 30% of total sales.
Greece has the largest per capita consumption of olive oil in the world. Each Greek is consuming a staggering 20,45kg of olive oil per annum according to data from the UN and the International Olive Council. The Greeks are followed by the Spaniards with a consumption of 12Kg per annum and the Italians with 11.25Kg per annum.
