ELEONES Early Harvest health claims confirmed by NMR test
When it comes to quality, at ELEONES we take very seriously what we do. Following this path, we always look for new ways that will help us inform our customers and the public in general about what we already know at ELEONES from our grandparents: ELEONES olive oil is good for you.
I can still remember my grandfather taking a spoonful of ELEONES Early Harvest every morning before breakfast saying: “this thing is a medicine” and smiling at us being young children back then.
Now some decades after that, ELEONES Early Harvest was tested using the pioneering method of NMR (Nuclear Magnetic Resonance). A method that was developed recently following a collaboration between scientists from the University of Athens and UC Davis Olive Center in the US.
The purpose of this test is to measure the healthfulness of the olive oil tested.
ELEONES Early Harvest 2015/16 harvest was tested (No101/2015 of 12/11/2015)under the NMR method just a few days ago. The results bring the ELEONES Early Harvest in the second position compared with all the Greek Olive Oils that were sold in the US and were tested in the UC Davis study for olive oils.
The overall D3 score of the analyzed compounds for the ELEONES Early Harvest 2015/16 is 526mg/Kg. According to the test report, the levels of oleocanthal are a staggering 220% higher and the levels of oleacein 121% higher than the average values of the samples included in the international study performed by the University of California, Davis.
The report also indicates: “It should be noted that oleocanthal and oleacein present important biological activity and they have been related with anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, cardioprotective and neuroprotective activity.
Daily consumption of 20 gr of ELEONES Early Harvest offers 10 mg (>5 mg) of hydroxytyrosol and tyrosol derivatives and consequently the olive oil sample belongs to the oil category that protect the blood lipids from oxidative stress, according to the EU regulation 432/2012.”
ELEONES Early Harvest 2015/16 is now “resting” in the stainless steel tanks and soon some lucky olive oil connoisseurs around the world will have the opportunity to try it.
